Document Summary

Authority of india (uidai) and its past reputation, many citizens have voiced their complaints against this new proposed bill. This new dna profiling database is far more intrusive than the uidai which is why concerns are being raised. The new database involves taking blood or tissue samples from residents rather than mere fingerprint or iris scans (which is what the uidai imposed). Because this new database involves actual dna samples, the dna profiling bill hopes to give more accurate accounts of forensics, identification, and help settle paternal and maternal claims. Of course as with most things there are ethical issues that arise with scientific and technological advancements. Because the database will contain not only dna data, but also demographic information, one major concern is that the population of impoverished indians will lose their human identity and be reduced to mere lab rats.
