10 views3 pages

Document Summary

Lymphatic system puts interstitial fluid back into bloodstream. Generates an immune response against antigens in interstitial fluid. Resemble capillaries with one-way valves (similar to veins) Right brings lymph back to circulatory system at internal jugular and subclavian v. Cisterna chili juncture for many lymph trunks draining into thoracic duct. Specific immunity in response to specific antigen. Natural killer cells in response to cancerous or infected cells. Oval clusters of lymphatic cells with some extracellular matrix. I. e. axillary region, cervical region, abdominal region, etc. Tonsils in kids become so large remove if get too large to breathe. Consists of lymphatic cells and matrix surrounded by capsule. Grow until puberty then regress to be replaced by adipose. Filtering antigens from lymph and get immune response. Structure: hilum, afferent vessels, efferent vessel (increases pressure to help remove stuff) Initiates immune response when antigens are found in blood (white pulp)
