However, female representation is extremely disproportionate to that of males. Female mcs are limited on the radio and images of women are highly sexualized in music videos, in particular black women are the subject of this sexual exploitation. During the pre-commercial years of hip hop, reputation was more important than money. Being the best was more important than earning cash. However, in these early outdoor spaces, men were considered the creators and women were the onlookers, even though women also were rocking parties in their crews. Men were just the first voices to be put on the radio. Ladies, led by mc sheri sher were the first all-female group. She was in the group funky four plus one more.
