Document Summary

1 summary - feminism is for everybody: passionate politics - Bell hooks - author, writer, feminist theorist, cultural critic. Focus on movies/culture and their messages to their audience. Feminist theorists are given a bad image. Seen as men-haters, individuals going against nature and god, lesbians, etc. Taking jobs and making it harder for white men. People don"t think about feminism being about rights. Feminism is a movement to end sexism, sexiest exploitation and oppression . Clearly states that it"s not being about anti-male. Individuals are conditioned to be socialized from birth. We easily accept sexist thought and action. Results in females being just as sexist as men. Males do benefit the most from patriarchy because they assume they"re superior to women. Because of their superiority, they must continue to dominate/oppress women. Men don"t want to let go of the superiority because it takes away their masculinity.
