Going at best from a dual parent household to a single parent household; may mean you don"t get things you would typically get with a divorce household. Abandonment (or fear of) by one or both parents. Go from two parents in your house to one and you might not see the other very often. Ex: baslows dad moving to ny with gf. Diminished capacity of parents to meet children"s needs. Children can be abandoned emotionally by neglecting their needs. Many times kids blame themselves for their parents divorce; Depressed because you"re grieving a loss, a family you once knew. Will never have that same family life you once had. Kids have a hard time focusing on school when they"re constantly thinking of what is going on at home. Usually lower grades for students; still true at the college level problems. Some children continue to show long-term behavioral and psychological. Less closeness and satisfaction with parents later in life.
