*quantitative: research that deals with objectively measurable data. The steps include: identification of the problem, formulation of the hypothesis, collection of data, statistical analysis of data, formation of tentative conclusions, dissemination of findings. *qualitative: research that involves the interpretation of nonnumerical data such as feelings , experiences or beliefs. How & why of behavior , can also reveal how subjective experience influences behavior. Examine a question in great depth & detail , tends to be less rigorous & subject to bias. Group of participants chosen to represent the entire population under study. Look @ table 2. 3: quantitative & qualitative research: Common ways are self-reports , observations as well as behavioral or performance measures.
