BIOL 230 Chapter : Nutrition Project
Document Summary
State of the knowing world before kant: by the time modern philosophy become modern philosophy, we have two camps: Empiricists, located largely in britain (bacon, locke and hume) They argued that there are not certain ideas, just knowledge by experience but always corruptible because nobody can know everything about everything. Descartes is trying to know the source of god. Kant arrives and brings these two schools together. Both schools of thoughts are motivated by the fact the knowledge comes from external world. The subject (like us) comes from the object (the world). There is always a link between the two things. An object has independent existence, like the chair, we use it everyday. It is something totally objective, like the knowledge. Similarly, we use our reason to apprehend the object, when we do, we owned it. When i say something about the world, i have the knowledge to talk about it.
