Romeo and Juliet Act 2 Summary
Scene One
Romeo has just discovered that Juliet is a Capulet and he is now in a garden,
thinking about his encounter with her.
Benvolio and Mercutio try to convince Romeo to go back inside the Capulet house
but then decide to leave him alone.
Scene Two
While Romeo is still in the garden, Juliet walks onto the balcony outside her room,
unaware that Romeo can see and hear her.
Romeo talks to himself about her beauty but Juliet the begins expressing her
concerns over their family names.
When she’s done speaking, Romeo reveals himself and says that he is in love with
her.
After a short conversation about their feelings, Romeo and Juliet decide to marry
each other in secret, and Juliet tells the Nurse about it because she needs the Nurse
to pass messages to Romeo.
