Macbeth Act 1 (Scene 1-4)
Scene 1
There’s a storm in the Scottish kingdom.
Three witches appear and use chants to express their plans to confront Macbeth (a
Scottish general) after the battle ends.
Then they disappear and the scene ends.
Scene 2
King Duncan, the king of Scotland, asks a captain for information of the battle
Scotland is fighting.
The captain says that the generals Macbeth and Banquo fought with courage and led
the Scots to victory.
Duncan is informed that the Thane of Cawdor is a traitor and Duncan demands the
Thane’s death.
Macbeth is given the title of Thane of Cawdor.
Scene 3
The witches appear with the intention of meeting Macbeth and Banquo.
They react poorly to the witches’ appearances.
