Twelfth Night Act 4 Summary
Scene 1
• Feste spots Cesario and tries to convince him to visit Olivia’s house again.
o But, this is actually Sebastian (Viola’s twin brother who looks exactly like
Cesario does) and not Viola.
o Sebastian is confused about who Feste and Olivia are, and these events are
making him believe that the entire city is crazy.
• Sir Andrew thinks Sebastian is actually Cesario and attacks him, but Sebastian
wins the duel.
• Sir Toby draws his sword to fight Sebastian after they throw a few insults at each
other, but Olivia sees them and
• Suddenly, Olivia enters. She sees Sir Toby preparing to fight the person who she
thinks is Cesario and prevents the fight.
Scene 2
• Maria asks Feste to dress up as a priest and talk to Malvolio, who was imprisoned
in a dark room.
• Malvolio tells this priest that he isn’t actually crazy and begs the priest to free him
