Dead man walking is an intense film based on a true story where two men, high on numerous drugs, torture and brutally murder two teenagers. The movie is focused on one killer, matthew, and his desperation for an appeal to the death sentence, which he"s been sentenced with. After seeking spiritual guidance from a nun, sister helen, matthew believes he may have a shot at a successful appeal. Helen decides she will do everything she can to guide matthew spiritually, believing that if he repents he will be shown some salvation by god. She also vows to him to help with a potential appeal. I was unaware that it was based on a true story until after i had finished watching it. Therefore, i really didn"t know what the ending would entail. I found myself beginning to wonder if matthew truly had been victimized by carl, and honestly i was hoping he would get an appeal.
