Each spot represents a coding sequence for a different gene. Some of the cdna bound to the spots. After washing off of non-specific bonding sequences, only strongly paired strands will remain hybridized. Can be used to measure changes in expression levels, to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms (snps), or to genotype or re-sequence mutant genomes. Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. Two characteristics: they are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division.
