Philosophy of modernity based on ideal of the liberal human subject as a self knowing unified and autonomous entity with individual human rights and freedoms. Associated with the belief that industrialization , technological intervention in nature, mass democracy, and the introduction of a market economy are the hallmarks of social progress.
