Chapter 1, curious naturalists by niko tinbergen questions: Name 3 things niko observed besides the digger wasps when walking through the countryside of hulshorst. He noticed many animals in the countryside such as black woodpeckers, honey buzzards, caterpillars, spiders, roedeer, and red squirrels. He first noticed a wasp acting strangely on the sand. As he observed further he realized that it was a digger wasp and noticed its adept ability to dig. He also noticed that the wasps were carrying honey bees and were likely hunting them. He observed from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. The females did the majority of the work in the digger wasp societies. He wanted to know if each wasp had its own burrow or if they shared them. He also wanted to know how the wasps navigate back to their burrows so well. He hypothesized that they each had their own burrow.
