Now feel anxious when hear that music: operant conditioning, or instrumental conditioning. Occurs when you learn that a behavior leads to a particular outcome. Ex: grasp that studying leads to better grades. Type of learning that was of greatest int. to b. f: development partly due to dissatisfaction among some psychologis w/ the widespread use of introspection, freudian theory popular at time. Watson, however, argued that freudian theory was unscientific and ultimately meaningless. That focused on things that couldn"t be observed directly: learning theory arose in the early 20th century. Salivary reflex: automatic response when a food stimulus is presented to a hungry animal.
