Effective communication is harder under the best of conditions. Cross-cultural factors create more of a potential for more problems in communication. A gesture that might be well understood and accepted in a certain culture might not mean anything in another. There is a lot you can gain from intercultural communications in business. All of us have differing viewpoints shaped by our cultures. We have the opportunity to find creative solutions using the help of other people if we effectively communicate. Some of us, because we have varied ethnic backgrounds, might be offended if a person addresses us based on the favored physical or cultural features. In addition, normally people base stereotypes shown by the media to try and be culturally sensitive to someone else. You should base intercultural communication on sensitivity and the common pursuit of goals because we interpret cultures differently and there are too many cultures for someone to completely understand on their own.
