Document Summary

Chapter 11: social psychologists have found that people in good moods are likely to help, as are people in bad moods. People in good moods have been found to be likely to be helpful. 84% of people who received a dime helped, while only 4% of people who did not receive a dime helped. People who are happy tend to make us see the good in people, helping people can prolong a good feeling, and good moods make us pay more attention to ourselves which can increase our focus on our values. When people are sad, they try to partake in activities that make us feel better, such as helping somebody. The more people who around in a small area can lead to a lack of attention to a situation. Somebody might go right past somebody who needs help and not notice in a crowd of people.
