Scapular line (lines up with where scapula starts) * also mid-axillary line on side of chest. The lungs are composed of lobes that are joined together at fissures. The right lung has 3 lobes but is smaller (since the liver is below it) and the left lung has 2 lobes and is slightly offset (the heart pushes it to the left). Note that the upper lobes are heard when auscultating anteriorly and the lower lobes are heard when auscultating posteriorly.
