In 2006, 21% of seniors had diabetes and 39% of new cases of cancer were diagnosed in those aged 65 to 79. Aboriginal adults are more likely to report poor or fair health status. A stat of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. Researchers can assess an older adult"s ability to perform through activities of daily living (adl) which are the individual"s ability to complete the tasks of bathing, dressing, transferring, using the toilet and eating. An expanded measure evaluates the instrumental activities of daily living (iadl) which includes the ability to use the telephone, go shopping, prepare meals, complete housekeeping tasks, do the laundry etc.
