Patients evaluate their health care based more on the quality of the interaction they have with the provider than on the technical quality of care: warm, confident and friendly provider, uncertainty kills liking patient consumerism. Patie(cid:374)t"s i(cid:374)(cid:272)(cid:396)easi(cid:374)g desi(cid:396)e & need to be involved in decisions affecting health: proactive role in managing their health help ensure commitment for coop and participation. Modify lifestyles such as no smoking and exercise involves patients adherence. Average visit 12-15 min; less time to communicate and effectively discuss complaints. Provider has difficulty retrieving as many info as possible must extract information quickly: patient may have different idea of which symptoms are important to present. Difficulties: patient uses over the counter remedies that mask the symptoms. Primary health care providers, inc physicians= first point of entry for ppl into our publicly funded health care system. Secondary health care: need to record any necessary tests or procedures that are passed along to primary physician.
