Multidimensional integrative approach to psychopathology - there is no single cause to disorder, many different aspects play a role and influence a disorder- disorders are influenced by different dimensions: biological, social, behavioural, emotional & Ex: bob who has a phobia of blood and faints. Biological dimension - increased heart beat, increased pns, fainting. He had increased vasovagal syncope - low blood to brain causing him to faint. Social - disruption at school, friends need to watch out for him. His friends and family rush to help him when he faints. Rejection and helping/supporting only when the episode occurs. Emotions are able to influence biological processes- influence hr, respiration, blood pressure - increase baroreflex - responsible for regulating whole body blood pressure. Emotions can also influence behaviour -avoid situations that scare you. Behavioural - conditioned response of fainting to anything related to blood. Genes are very long molecules of dna - deoxyribonucleic acid.
