Mood disorders: psychological disorders which are associated with gross deviations in mood. Mania: extreme pleasure in every activity flight of ideas: when manic people speak rapidly because of their desire to express all their many ideas at once. Manic episodes can last two to six months if left untreated. Manic episodes by definition last a week, while hypomanic ones can last only 4 days with less severe symptoms. If either mania or depression is experienced, then it is referred to as unipolar mood disorder. If both feelings are experienced at the same time, then the state is referred to. Mixed features usually more server than if one of them was experienced alone. Full remission of a mood disorder involves at least two months between episodes [if the two episodes in the case of depression are two months apart, then the disorder is recurrent] Women are twice as likely to experience mood disorders.
