Blind people who have never seen smiles still smile to show happiness. William james believed we can control emotions by going through the outwards movements of any emotion we want to experience. Expressions communicate emotion but also amplify + regulate it. How we act on outside makes us feel better on inside, how we feel is how we perceive. Acting as another helps us feel what another feels.
