Module 20 basic learning concepts & classical. Learning: process of acquiring new and relatively enduring information or behaviors. Learn to expect/prepare for significant events like food or pain (classical) Learn to repeat acts that bring rewards/avoid unwanted results (operant) Also learn from language but never experienced (cognitive learning) Minds naturally connect events that occur in sequence. Also feed habitual behaviors ex. sleeping certain way, popcorn at theatre. Associative learning: learning that certain events occur together, events may be 2 stimuli(classical)/as a response and its consequence(operant) Classical conditioning learn to associate 2 stimuli + thus anticipate events. Operant conditioning learn to associate response + its consequence. Learn to repeat acts followed by good results, avoid acts followed by bad results. Cognitive learning: acquisition of mental information, by observing events/watching others/through language. Classical conditioning: a type of learning in which one learns to link 2 or more stimuli and anticipate events.
