Development begins with conception, which occurs when fertilization creates a zygote. Zygote- a one-celled organism formed when the sperm reaches/ unites with the egg. Each of cells contains messages from each of your parents carried on chromosomes that lie within nucleus. Each chromosome houses many genes, which are the functional unit in hereditary transmission, they carry details of hereditary blueprint. Prenatal period- extends from conception to birth, usually encompassing nine months of pregnancy: the course of prenatal development.
