Risk: a measure of the likelihood that you will suffer from a hazard (causes injury, disease, death, economic loss, or environmental damage). Risk assessment: the scientific process of estimating how much harm a particular hazard can cause to human health. Risk management: involves deciding whether or how to reduce a particular risk to a certain level and at what cost. Risk is expressed in terms of probability (how likely one is to suffer harm from hazard) Cultural hazards: unsafe working conditions, smoking, poor diet, drugs, unsafe sex, Chemical hazards: harmful chemicals in air, water, soil, and food. Physical hazards: ionizing radiation, fire, tornados, floods,volcanoes.
