Everything else in the monument seems to frame up the sun, not hide it. This led to the belief that there was another stone to help frame up the sun instead of hide it. In the n hemisphere the sun will be south at noon. Summer solstice: rise & set of the sun is moved more n so that it stays in the sky longer. Summer solstice: azimuth is around ne to nw.
