Chapter 7 : knowledge management and specialized information systems. Information is a collection of factors organized so that they have additional value beyond the value of the facts themselves. Knowledge is the awareness and understanding of a set of information and the ways that information can be made useful to support a specific task or reach a decision. Knowledge management system: is an organized collection of people, procedures, software, databases, and devices used to create, store, and share and use the organization"s knowledge and experience. Explicit knowledge: is objective and can be measured and documented in reports, papers, and rules. Tacit knowledge: on the other hand, is hard to measure and document and typically is not objective or formalized. Data and knowledge management workers and communities of practise. Data workers: the personnel involved in a kms include data and knowledge workers.
