Modern mass media began to emerge in the fifteenth century with development of printing called movable type, which helped to build a social movement. This led to the decline of feudalism, and the beginning of the renaissance, followed by the reformation, the enlightenment, and the industrial revolution. Newspapers started to publish in the eighteenth and early nineteenth century and were owned by political parties. Due to the high cost of producing newspapers, it led to newspapers becoming a business. The newspaper served multiple roles including advertising different ads such as employment, merchandise, and service ads. The role of media and its perspective in relation to political systems varies.
