Light has two functions: source of energy that directly or indirectly sustains organisms; it provides to organisms with info about their world. Earth is 150 kilometres away from the sun, making life on earth ourish. Sun converts over 4 million tonnes of matter into energy/ second; energy is given off as electromagnetic radiation (which travels at the speed of light) Electromagnetic radiation determined by wavelength and distance b/w two peaks. Light: part of the electromagnetic spectrum that humans can detect with eyes. Experiment results explain light as being a stream of energy particles called photons. Light has a property called particle waved duality (properties of both wave and a stream of photons); is best understood as a wave of photons. Inverse relation between amount of energy of a photon and the length of the wavelength of light (i. e. when wavelength is long the amount of energy the photon posses is lower)
