Management: the process of administering and coordinating resources effectively and efficiently in an effort to achieve the organization"s goals. Efficiency: using the fewest inputs to produce a given level of output. Effectiveness: the pursuit and achievement of goals that are appropriate for an organization. Traditional view of the role of managers was that managers were able to reflect systematically on information before making decisions. Also that their job was relatively clear and narrow. Henry mintzberg, a management scholar, conducted a study that found that managers engaged in a variety of unpatterned short-duration activities, Constant interruptions means little time for systematic reflection. Mintzberg presented 10 roles within three broad categories: Interpersonal roles: one of mintzberg"s three broad categories of roles that managers play.
