For generations, one of the major issues every sociology student has faced is the nature vs. nurture debate: the "human nature" explanations are essentially genetic: people act in specific ways because of their biological makeup. If human behaviour is the result of human nature, then the result has profound implications. American sociologists started to challenge this "born in the bone" thinking: they argued that human behaviour is largely associated with social and cultural forces.
