Apply red to infants nose then put them infront of a mirror to see if they notice a difference in their appearance. If they do it can be said the infant recognizes themselves and a change in their image. 2-3 year olds have the concept of present self don"t understand that events in the past have an implication on them today. 4-5 year olds have the concept of extended self events that happened now impact them however these events may not be still happening o contributors to self recognition. 3-5 year olds can distinguish between races in pictures but are less likely to know their own race.
