Our judgements are made so quickly, ad can be altered by external stimuli (people perceptions of how attractive someone is can be swayed by presence of smells that they are unaware of) Unconscious thoughts can be useful, gut feeling . Conscious thoughts have capacity constraints (we only consider a small amount of variables), unconscious thoughts don"t have those constraints. Consciousness doesn"t come from a specific part of the brain, it comes from activity in the neural networks. Eeg"s are used to monitor brain activity and link that activity to consciousness (brain waves, amplitude, frequency) Biological rhythms periodical fluctuations in physiological functioning. Quality of sleep suffers, sleep debt that you must make up for by getting extra sleep.
