PS101 Chapter Notes - Chapter 7: Learning, Operant Conditioning Chamber, Classical Conditioning
Document Summary
Lasting change as result of practice, study, or experience. Associative learning - change as result of experience where 2 or more stimuli are linked. Non-associative learning - change does not involve associations between stimuli, rather from experiences with single sensory cue. Habituation - weakening of response to stimulus after repeated presentation. Dishabituation - form of nal where there is a recover of attention to stimulus following habituation. Sensitization - strong stimulus form exaggerated response to presentation of weaker one. ~ defining conditions - the association between environmental stimuli and the organism responses. Classical conditioning - previously neutral stimulus acquires capacity to elicit a response through association with stimulus (pavlov"s apparatus - dog salivating) Unconditioned stimulus (us) - elicits (creates) unconditioned response. Unconditioned response (ur) - the reflexive response to a stimulus in the absence of learning. Conditioned stimulus (cs) - initially neutral stimulus. Elicit a conditioned response after paired with an unconditioned stimulus.
