Level describes breadth, depth and significance of the therapy process and the changes accomplished therein, which in turn reflect level of training needed by therapist. Criteria for determining levels of practice: relevance to primary health needs, clinical independence, breadth, context, depth, intensity, role relationships, use of music and therapist, challenge, training. Ex relevance of music therapy to client"s needs determines how much clinical independence it will have, in tern affecting the depth of interventions and the degree of client change. Levels of practice help to ensure that the various approaches and methods of music therapy are practiced competently and safely. Practice that has music or nonmusical goals that are not health-related but beneficial nonetheless. Individuals receiving service do not qualify as clients . Service provider does not act in capacity of therapist. Not considered within the boundaries of music therapy.
