Motor learning: study of processes involved in acquiring and re ning motor skills and of variable that promote or inhibit acquisition. Motor control: focuses on neural, physical and behavioural aspects that underlie human movement. Understanding both helps with why a behaviour manifests and the basis for assessing performance, helpful instruction abd optimal practice, rehabilitation and training. Learning: permanent change in a person"s capability to execute a motor skill because of practice and experience. Through watching someones performance you can see whether they have learned. The learning is seen through the changes of the individual (pro ciency and consistency) Motor skills are developed as a result of practice. Fine motor skills: skills involving very precise movements, using small muscles. Gross motor skills: multi-limb movements using larger muscles. Children tend to control gross motor skills better than ne motor skills. Discrete skill: beginning and end points clearly de ned. Swinging a golf club, throwing a horse shoe.
