BU491 Chapter Notes - Chapter 4: Fire People, Investor, Oecd Better Life Index
Document Summary
The overall living conditions in denmark are more than adequate as it ranks at a grade of 7. 5 on the oecd better life index compared to the 6. 5 average (oecd, 2015). 78 years for men and 82 years for women, which ranks amongst the lowest in western europe. Although specifics are not known, this can possibly be attributed to higher consumption of alcohol amongst adolescents and rising cancer rates (oecd, 2015). Also, danes seem to enjoy a high standard of living amongst other european countries as they reap the benefits of various social infrastructure (i. e. schools, universities, hospitals, community housing, etc. ). In addition, post-secondary education is free for those in the eu/eea, which is great for students who aspire to learn and become contributing members of society (dcc & oxford research, 2010). The impoverished population of denmark can also capitalize on these opportunities and can use these services as a foundation for the betterment of their future.
