BU481 Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Notes
Document Summary
Capabilities such as these do not exist in isolation in an organization; they are based on the behaviour of your employees, which in turn is influenced and supported by the culture of the organization. An organization"s culture can have a major impact on the behaviour of everyone in the organization, and thus on its capabilities. The culture of an organization is its values, beliefs, and core basic assumptions, more or less shared by people in an organization. In an organization with a strong culture, their beliefs will be widely shared and strongly held. The first step in deciding if your organization is likely to prove capable of implementing a new strategy is to break the strategy into its four component parts, and identify the capabilities needed for each. It may be useful to prepare a table in the prior diagram. You will want to be as specific as you can about the capabilities that you will need.
