Different strategies require different hr plans: growth/expansion strategy = aggressive hiring, training and promotion, cost reduction strategy = layoffs and early retirement. Linking strategy to planning: a fi(cid:396)(cid:373)"s lo(cid:374)g-range strategic plan is accomplished by the thoughtful execution of a series of short-range, tactical plans that focus on current needs and operations. Step 1: forecast demand for resources: looks at the many factors that cause a labour need to exist and uses various forms of forecasting techniques. Step 2: assess internal and external supply of resources. Identifies what the planners expect to accomplish as a result of their actions: carry out an analysis to determine the differences between demand and supply. Step 4: design and implement hrm programs: these programs attempt to balance demand and supply.
