Legitimate occupations provide different sorts of opportunities to engage in fraud and include occupational subcultures that either promote or contrain illegal activity. Occupational crime defined by clinard as : violation of the legal codes in the course of activity in a legitimate occupation . Much confusion with the definition of occupational crime has arisen with invocation of terms occupational crime, occupational deviance and workplace crime. Occupational deviance: activities deviating from norms of employers, professional associations, or coworkers within an occupational setting, such as malingering or sexual harassment. Workplace crime: conventional forms of crime, such as rape or robbery, which occur in the workplace. Usually occupational crimes are committed my middle and upper class indiduals within the context of legal occupation. Business crime is neglected and should receive more attention. Those actually charged of wcc are disproportionately ordinary members of middle or lower class with modest incomes, small business owners, shopkeepers, resaurateurs, market traders, used car sales people and employees.
