Qualitative research in action will be introduced you too many of these studies and provide you with the tools to tryout qualitative research. Attempts to encompass a variety of approaches through which researchers attempt to understand the everyday lives and social settings. Many different methods are used like in-depth interviewing, participant observation and document analysis to understand the social process. Qualitative is important because you are more familiar with their experiences and what defines them. The example of a widowed showed that qualitative research allowed a greater understanding of the meaning to the questions women said they saw their (cid:272)hild(cid:396)e(cid:374) (cid:858)ofte(cid:374)(cid:859) The participatory approach leads us to participants not subjects. Researchers often use experiences from everyday life to develop their research ideas. Glassner and hertz the job is to take the ordinary events and make them extraordinary and to demonstrate how the extraordinary is routine. Asking questions what questions and how they are phrased- is important.
