Survey research can collect a large amount of information on individuals, and because identical questions are sked in the same order and in the same way to each respondent, the results can be compared across respondents. Not possible to know if everyone who is asked a specific survey question understands it in the same way. Survey research is not appropriate for all topics. Characteristics of the interviewer (race) may influence how a person responds to survey questions, which is known as the interviewer effect. Ability to demonstrate causality (i. e. , that an independent variable caused a change in a dependent variable) It is only in the experimental design that a condition is manipulated so that its impact on an outcome of interest can be observed.
