Sociology: study of social life, including all forms of interactions and relationships. Culture: ways of life people create as they participate in a group or society. Society: collection of people living in a defined geographical territory; united by a political system and a shared sense of self-identification that distinguishes them from others. Institutionalized competitive activities: standardized rules, officials enforcing those rules, organized and technical aspects of the game, learning of game skills is formalized -- played by people for internal and external rewards. Rigorous physical exertion or the use of complex physical skills. Play: expressive activity done for its own sake. Contested activities: activities for which there are no universal agreements about meaning, purpose, sponsorship or organization. Aspects of the social world that are created by people as they interact with one another under social/ political/ economic conditions. Sociology= reality around people + group experiences cultural contexts in which people live. Psychology= reality in people i. e. motivation (preferred approach)
