The institutionalization of the period of adolescence over the past couple of centuries has been accompanied by a gradual separation of the daily lives of. There is a lot of disagreement about the reasons and consequences of youth culture within youth studies. This chapter focuses on : youth cultures are a spontaneous creation of the young and the degree to which they are manufactured for them by adult interests. A debate has raged for several generations among sociologists over how to define.
