Introduction: religions presence and importance is blatant in the conflict, terrorism and peacemaking efforts in the middle east. In north america, religion"s presence is also readily evident in the god-laced responses to such militancy on the part of us political leaders, whose supporters frequently include large numbers of the so-called christian right. In canada, reality of religion is readily apparent in the tendency of the vast majority of people to continue to identify with a religious tradition; in the growing numbers of individuals identifying with faiths that include islam, Hinduism, sikhism, and buddhism: widespread consensus through 1990s was that religion"s influence was declining and that canadians and people in most other technologically advanced countries were leaving religion behind. Weber and ideas: maintained that religion, in addition to having a supernatural component, is largely oriented toward this world, religious ideas and behavior should frequently be evident in everyday conduct.
