One of the biggest criticisms against religion is that while it may claim its purpose is social cohesion, it actually causes social conflict. A church is a bureaucratic religious organization that has accommodate itself to mainstream society and culture. Hinduism, and the numerous mentions of women being subordinate to men in the bible.
