Most influential model of attitude has been the multicomponent model. States that attitudes are a summary evaluation of an object that has cognitive, affective and behavioural components. Cognitive component refers to beliefs, thoughts, and attributes we associate with an object. E. g. , could be based primarily upon the positive and negative attributes they associate with an object. E. g. , attitude towards a car could be based on it"s safety records, gas mileage and repair costs. Affective component refers to feelings or emotions linked to an attitude object. E. g, negative response to seeing a spider can create a negative attitude towards spiders. Behavioural component refers to past behaviours or experiences regarding an attitude object. According to bem"s self-perception theory people do not always have access to their opinions of different object and sometimes infer their attitudes by thinking about how they have behaved with respect to the attitude object in the past.
