Social psychology: the scientific study of the way in which people"s thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by the real or imagines presence of other people. Social psychology is concerned with how people are influenced by their interpretation, or construal, of their social environment. It is more important to understand how people perceive, comprehend, and interpret the social world that it is to understand the objective properties of the social world itself. Example: in a trial, no matter how powerful the evidence might be, the final verdict will always rely on how each member of the jury construes that evidence.
