Chapter 2: methodology: how social psychologists do research. Learning objectives: summarize the three major empirical research methods used in social psychology, apply ethical considerations to study designs, recognize different ways to promote research integrity, devise a simple study to test a specific hypothesis. Many social problems can be studied scientifically a principle of social psychology. We are likely inclined to think the results were obvious as the results and topics dwell within what we are intimately familiar with. Hindsight bias: the tendency for people to exaggerate how much they could have predicted the outcome after knowing that it occurred. There are two different types of empirical research that people can do based on what they would like to get out of the experiment.
